Mountain Deck & Exterior
South Fork
Two levels of composite decking, new balcony framing and steel railing on a log home tucked into the pines.
- Location
- Colorado Front Range
- Completed
- 2025
About this build
This log home had weathered decks on three sides and a balcony that could no longer be trusted. We rebuilt the structure from the framing up, switched the walking surface to low-maintenance composite, and carried a single black steel railing detail across every level so the house reads as one piece. Snow load, drainage and mountain sun drove every material choice.
Scope of work
- Full tear-out and re-framing of lower deck and upper balcony
- Composite decking rated for freeze-thaw and heavy snow load
- Black steel cable and horizontal rail systems
- New stair runs with non-slip treads
- Timber post repair, flashing and stone base detailing
